World’s heaviest rideable bike is wheel-y big

A German man has built a bicycle weighing 940 kilograms that he plans to pedal into the record books as the world's heaviest rideable bike.

Using giant tires from an industrial fertilizer spreader and scrap steel, Frank Dose has been building his bike since March and is now applying to have it formally recognized by Guinness World Records. Though the tires are 1.53 meters in diameter, Dose says the bike is surprisingly easy to ride.

The current record holder, also made in Germany, weighs 860 kilograms.
