Vaccinations and medicines:
See the list of vaccinations and medicines and visit your doctor (4-6 weeks) before your trip to get the vaccinations or medicines you may need.
The most common diseases need to be vaccinated before traveling to Thailand
Hepatitis A
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend this vaccination because you can get hepatitis A through contaminated food or contaminated water in Thailand, no matter where you eat or stay.
Typhoid fever
You can get typhoid fever through food or contaminated water in Thailand. The CDC recommends vaccination for most travelers, especially if you live with friends or relatives, visit small towns or rural areas, or if you love out-of-home food.
Hepatitis B
Which may be transmitted through the blood contaminated with the disease, so this vaccination is recommended even if the traveler did a tattoo or medical examinations are not exposed to the disease.
Japanese encephalitis
If you plan to visit Thailand's rural areas or spend a lot of time outdoors, the doctor can help you with the vaccination if you are planning to visit Thailand. In determining whether the vaccination is appropriate for the traveler based on his plans on the trip.
Malaria
When traveling to Thailand, mosquito bites should be avoided to prevent malaria. The traveler may need to take medication before, during, and after the trip to prevent malaria, which is determined according to travel plans such as places of residence or overnight stays outside the home.
Cough disease
It may be found in dogs and other mammals found in Thailand. This vaccination is recommended for the following cases:
- Travelers who have outdoor activities or other activities in remote areas may be endangered by animal bites such as adventure travel and cave tours.
- Persons who will work with or next to animals (eg veterinarians, wildlife professionals and researchers).
- People who make long trips or move to remote areas in Thailand.
Children who play with animals may become infected with animals, especially in the neck and head.
Yellow fever
There is no risk of yellow fever in Thailand. The Thai government has shown that the risk could only include anyone coming from a country with yellow fever. This does not include the United States. If you are traveling from a country other than the United States of America, check to see if you need a yellow fever vaccine.
Some prevention and protection methods:
- Eat foods and drinks guaranteed.
- Avoid mosquito bites.
- Try to visit safe places only.
- Stay away from animals.
Avoid blood transfusion.
- Learn how to get health care during travel.
- Selection of safe transportation.
- Maintain personal safety.
Important note:
- Pregnant women should not travel to Thailand so as not to become infected with Zika virus, which presents the embryos to the lusts of birth.
Procedures to be done after returning from Thailand:
- If you do not feel okay after your trip, you may want to visit your doctor. Be sure to tell your doctor about your travel, including where you went and what you did on your trip. Also tell your doctor if you have been bitten or scratched by any animal while traveling.
If your doctor has prescribed an anti-malarial drug before taking your trip, continue to take the rest of the pills even after you return home. If you stop taking your medication early, you are still at a chance to get sick.
Malaria is a serious disease and may also be fatal. If you get malaria during travel or after you return home (within one year) you should seek immediate medical attention and you should tell your doctor about your travel history.
