Male, the capital of the Republic of the Maldives

Male, the capital of the Republic of the Maldives, is one of the world's most vulnerable cities to climate change, as it is located one meter above sea level.

The city is more densely populated than New York in Manhattan and ranks as one of the smallest capitals in the world, unlike the rest of the country's islands with paved roads and tall buildings.

The Maldives is the fourth country in the world with a 100% Muslim majority after Saudi Arabia, Somalia and Libya.

Not only do the Maldives have a Muslim majority, but their mother tongue "Dhivehi language" is similar in shape to the Arabic letters.
