Morocco will host the 11th edition of the World Railway High Speed ​​​​Conference in Marrakech under the slogan: "Rail high speed ... the most appropriate speed for our planet."


In line with the pioneering role played by Morocco at the Arab and African levels in the field of high speed, the Kingdom of Morocco was chosen by the International Federation of Railways to host the 11th session of the World Conference on High Speed ​​Rail, from 07 to 10 March 2023.


And he explained, in a joint statement, last Wednesday, that the National Railways Office, in partnership with the International Federation of Railways, organizes this world conference in its eleventh edition at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakesh under the slogan “High-speed rail ... the most appropriate speed for our planet.”


He added that this important event will bring together all the operators of high speed across the world and provide an opportunity to highlight the importance of the high speed railway's contribution to facing the climate dilemma and its role in preparing the national territory.


On this occasion, the same source indicates that Mohamed Rabie Al-Khelai, Director General of the National Railway Office, and François Davin, Director General of the International Federation of Railways, invite all relevant actors in the field of mobility, on the five continents, to participate in this distinguished and unique event. .


The two officials highlight that this event is the best opportunity to appreciate the role played by the railway model, as well as its added value to society.


This important international conference is also an opportunity to share the latest technological developments in this field. High speed has not yet exhausted its balance of appropriate solutions and advantages to keep pace with the growth of sustainable mobility on a global scale.


The statement pointed out that more than three billion passengers use high-speed trains every year, adding that this huge number is rising at an accelerating pace to keep pace with the increasing expansion and continuous development of the high-speed network across the world, as well as the services associated with it.


He mentioned that about 56,000 km of high-speed lines are currently being exploited across the world, considering that this number will double during the next three decades, as countries that have taken the high-speed option are working hard to complete the coverage of their networks with this modern technology, and other countries have been joining this path. , convinced of the efficacy of this method, not without posing some challenges of a strategic, industrial, technical or financial nature, which will be studied during the three days of the conference.


It is expected that this edition of the High Speed ​​​​Conference for the year 2023 in Marrakech will bring together more than 1,500 participants from decision-makers, authorities concerned with transport affairs, international railway companies, key players in the field of multimodal transport, infrastructure managers, railway manufacturers, financial institutions, institutes of studies and research and universities. All of these participants can attend the various activities that will enrich the conference program, including working sessions, workshops, professional exhibitions, technical visits…
