"Church of Bones - Balchik"
A church that looks stranger than fiction, more than 1,000 years old.
The strange story of this church began when a monk from the monastery, Henry, returned from the Holy Land, bringing some earth that he believed was crucified in his own land.
And he spread it around the cemetery of the monastery to be blessed with its holy soil, which qualified this place to become a magnet for all Europe to bury the dead there
After the spread of the plague and the death of almost a third of Europe in just five years, and after the Bohemian war and its aftermath of dead, the land of this cemetery no longer accommodated the burial of the dead.
A church was built of the bones of the dead called the "Church of Bones".
Where the wood sculptor (Frantisek Rent) made decorations from the bones by stacking the skulls and bones in a certain way that made them decorated interiors of the church to look like the most terrifying church in the world.
The number of skeletons in this church is estimated at about 30 thousand people.
