Row after row of small mansions, all completely deserted, in the Turkish village of Burj al-Babs.

Nestled in a valley below the foothills of pine-filled mountains, 180 miles southeast of Istanbul, these white, dark mansions share their looks with Neuschwanstein Palace in Germany and masterpieces of European building in the 13th, 14th and 15th centuries.

Work began on the palaces in 2014 to be a residence for the elite of the Gulf countries, but the project was not completed, as the company "Sarout Property Group" based on it went bankrupt, and the palaces still stand in the middle of the beautiful mountains.
