The mysterious coffins found in Scotland.
In June of 1836 AD, five young boys found some mysterious small coffins inside a cave while searching for rabbit holes in the northeastern slopes of the Edinburgh countryside, Scotland.
These coffins were found specifically in a cave called the top of the hill below which the cave is located, “Arthur’s Seat - Edinburgh.” 17 small, mysterious coffins carved from pine and decorated with pieces of iron were found hidden inside the cave. The length of the coffin was 95 millimeters, about 9.4 inches. Centimeter and it is now in the British Museum.
No one knows who these coffins belong to, what was the motive for making them and burying them, or who buried them. It is believed that they were buried between the years 1800 AD and 1830 AD, but the threads used in the fabrics worn by the statues inside the coffins are made up of a mixture of cotton and linen threads, and this mixture of threads was not used in Scotland in the year 1800 AD. Therefore, it was most likely buried in 1830 AD. Scientists say that it was most likely carved by two or more people and was buried all at once or during relatively short periods by the same person or group of people who carved them. These statues are also carved very precisely and vary in length. Its length is 5 millimeters, and some of the statues had their hands removed to fit the coffin, which means that they were not made as a basis for burial.
According to some theories, it is possible that these coffins were used by magicians in magical works, or another theory says that they were talismans for sailors to protect against death and dangers, or as a symbolic burial for those lost at sea. There is another theory that says that they were made and buried as a tribute to the 17 victims of a crime. Scottish serial killers Burke and Hare in Edinburgh in 1829 AD, where their crimes were due to selling bodies to a medical school lecturer for dissection.
The coffins were found seven years after the Burke and Hare massacre, but the wooden statues inside the coffins are wearing male clothes, and the victims of Burke and Hare are female. Some of the coffins have been affected by time, and only eight coffins remain in good condition.
Good, and it is worth noting that these mysterious coffins remain a mystery until now.
