STATUE OF KING ARTHUR IN TINTAGEL - CORNWALL- ENGLAND

High on the cliffs of Tintagel stands a bronze statue of King Arthur clutching his sword and looking out at the ruins of Tintagel Castle, built in 1240. The ruins are on a hill surrounded by caves and cliffs. It is supposed to be where King Arthur was born and there is a statue of him high up on the hill in Cornwall.

The first stories that mention King Arthur appear under the title of History of the Kings of Britain, by Geoffrey of Monmouth, in the year 1136. In this writing, Arthur is described as a hero full of values whose purpose in the world is create an empire and protect his people from any threat. To do this, he has the help of the magician Merlin.

So if this monarch really existed, where was he born? Archaeologists seem to have found the answer to this question very close to Tintagel.
