But no ... these are real photos taken in the largest salt flat on Earth - Salar de Uyuni - is the largest salt flat in the world, located in southwestern Bolivia. It covers an area of more than 10,582 square kilometers and is located at an altitude of about 3,656 meters above sea level. This vast expanse of white salt creates a stunning mirror-like effect when covered with a thin layer of water in early winter, making it a popular destination for photographers and tourists.
The salt flat was formed as a result of transformations between several ancient lakes that existed about forty thousand years ago. Under the salt crust is a pool of brine rich in lithium, making it an important source for battery production.
Salar de Uyuni is also a breeding ground for several species of flamingos and is a major transportation corridor across the Bolivian plateau. The unique landscape has been used as a filming backdrop in films such as "Star Wars: The Last Jedi."
