Did you know there's a free food forest in Atlanta ?

The city of Atlanta has created a "Free Food Forest." This food forest spans over 7.1 acres and contains more than 2,500 edible and medicinal plants, freely accessible to anyone. So far, more than 1,000 volunteers have contributed their time to the project.

Located in the Browns Mill neighborhood, where the nearest grocery store is a 30-minute bus ride away, the forest directly addresses food insecurity.

With one in six Georgia residents experiencing hunger, and one in four Atlantans living in severe food deserts, this initiative represents a beacon of hope for many.

Atlanta joins cities like Seattle, Portland, and Asheville in creating urban food forests. "Every space in the garden is an opportunity to learn," says Michael McCord, who helps manage the forest. "From trees to vegetables, we're raising awareness." "Sustainability"
