A huge square directly in front of St. Peter's Cathedral in the Vatican City, Pope John Paul II is a pocket surrounded by Rome, directly west of the neighborhood.
The field is characterized by the presence of an Egyptian obelisk four thousand years in the center of the square, which was established at the current site in 1568.
The field design by Jean-Laurenzo Bernini of the Piazza for the age of almost 100 years earlier, including the giant Tuscan columns, four deep columns, which embrace visitors in the 'Mothers of the Mother Church'.
There is a granite fountain built by Bernini in 1675 to match another fountain designed by Carlo Maderno dating back to 1613.
