Religious and tourist attraction at Ethiopia

In the depths of Ethiopia, and in the heart of the mountains, reality is close to imagination, and looking from afar extends to a cross that you think is a drawing on the ground, but it is nothing but a carving for the ceiling of the Church of “St. George” among the 15 churches of “Lalibela” whose construction is attributed to King “Jabri Meskel” Lalibela", which he decided to carve from the womb of the rocks in the heart of the mountain.

Believers make pilgrimages daily individually and by the thousands annually on the Feast of Resurrection according to the Orthodox calendar (from March 22 to April 25), they worship and take dirt and water as a blessing from what Lalibela wanted to be the sanctuary of Africa.

King Lalibela ruled Ethiopia more than 9 centuries ago, but he was not the only passerby. The site has become a religious and tourist attraction, even though it has been affected in the past two years by the spread of Corona and the armed conflict between the Tigray Front and the federal forces.
