Khnifiss National Park in the Moroccan Desert
Desert ,Ocean, Animals , Unique views
Lagoon Khnifiss (or Lagoon Naila) is the jewel of the National Park Khnifiss. The lagoon is an ornithological treasure. It also will delight all nature lovers!
The Khnifiss National Park is located on the coast between Tan-Tan and Tarfaya, 70 km to the north of it. The park has an area of 185,000 ha, the lagoon itself 6.000 ha ... This is a stretch of sea that stretches more than 20 kilometers into the Sahara. The medium is so brackish, suitable for biodiversity and able to accommodate species numbers, in large numbers at that.
Lagoon Khnifiss is bordered on one side by a cliff (where the view is breathtaking) and the other by the dunes that stretch to infinity! Pass to the Atlantic (Foum Agoutir or Foum Agwitir) is 100m wide and has a depth of 6 meters, subjecting Lagoon Naila (Khnifiss) the tides. The lagoon and the bay of Khnifiss was declared Biological Reserve in 1978.
It was listed on the list of the Ramsar Convention in 1980. It is now part of a larger whole: Khnifiss National Park, which includes a nice variety of interesting natural environments.
