Here are a few tips and tricks for you, if you are planning a trip to Uzbekistan:(save for later)…

Uzbekistan Diaries…

Away from the cities, Uzbekistan has a diverse landscape: rivers, forests, deserts, and mountains making it a destination of choice. From the grandeur of Registan to brightly colored Uzbek clothing, almost everything you see is instagramable.

Here are a few tips and tricks for you, if you are planning a trip to Uzbekistan:(save for later)

- There are many ATMs in Uzbekistan

If you stay in the well-known tourist areas of Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara after leaving the airport, you shouldn't have any trouble withdrawing cash from the ATM. If you wish to exchange USD for UZS, automatic money changers are also available.

Khiva is the only city where we found the ATM situation difficult

-  Uzbekistan is Very Safe: Even at night, we always felt secure when out and about. With the many trips, we have been on we think any female traveler would feel comfortable going to Uzbekistan alone.

- Languages of Uzbekistan and Russia are Interchangeable

You'll discover that Russian is more widely spoken than English in Uzbekistan. Most Uzbeks are bilingual. Almost everyone greets one another in Arabic by saying "assalomu alaykum."

-In Uzbekistan, Alcohol is Quite Popular: Another misconception we had before traveling to Uzbekistan was this one. However, we didn't realize how much Russia was influencing Uzbekistan. Russians enjoy drinking.

- Install Yandex. Taxi for Tashkent

Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva do not have Yandex, however, it will be useful for navigating Tashkent. It's an app that calls you cabs rather than private drivers, but it works similarly to Uber. In order to get a fare estimate, enter your destination into the app.
