The Man Who Driven American Airlines Crazy

In 1987, American Steve Worthstein purchased a $250,000 Golden Ticket from American Airlines, which granted him free travel for life, in addition to a companion ticket worth $150,000.

Steve Worthstein booked more than 10,000 flights. Sometimes he would travel to a specific restaurant or watch a game, returning hours later. Sometimes he would travel with homeless people, returning them to their hometowns, or reserve a companion seat for a fake person, or he would book but not fly.

Steve Worthstein cost the company $21 million in tickets, which forced the company to cancel his free ticket in 2008. Because in America, the system of respect for the rule of law and nothing is above the law, after the company cancelled his free ticket, Steve Worthstein filed a lawsuit against the company for breach of its promises and credibility, and requested compensation from the company. He won the case and received compensation of $3 million, while his free ticket remained active for life!!
