In 1990, a fifteen-year-old girl named Estefania Gutierrez Lázaro, who lived in a suburb south of Madrid, brought a Ouija board to school. According to her parents, their daughter was trying to contact her boyfriend, who had died in a motorcycle accident.
Estefania began hallucinating and seeing rapidly moving dark shadows, which she described as evil beings. She suffered from manic and demented episodes, and began screaming at her siblings. Her father took her to various doctors and specialists, but they all said she did not suffer from any mental health problems.
In August 1991, Estefania died in the hospital after suffering for more than six months from anxiety, stress, and recurring hallucinations for which there was no apparent cause. According to her parents, the Ouija board was the main cause...!
It took more than a year for Estefania's parents to contact the police to investigate their daughter's death. When the police arrived, they claimed to have heard noises from an uninhabited area of ​​the house and that a closet had suddenly opened its doors.
After Estefania's death, her family suffered from paranormal phenomena, including doors closing and windows opening, appliances turning on and off without warning, furniture moving, and Estefania's screams.
Police reports stated that the girl's room was in shambles and scattered, and anyone who entered would see posters strangely hidden, as well as a cross moving on its own!
In 2017, a horror film based on her true story was released, titled "Veronica."
