Can the Flat Earth theory withstand a real-world experiment in the heart of Antarctica?
In December 2024, a group of Flat Earth proponents traveled to Ice Union Camp in Antarctica for what was dubbed the "Final Experiment," organized by Will Duffy. Their goal was to observe the phenomenon of the midnight sun, when the sun shines continuously for 24 hours during the summer months.
The team used advanced cameras and satellite links to transmit and monitor the continuous sunlight over several days, challenging the flat Earth theory that describes Antarctica as an ice wall surrounding the Earth's disk.
During the expedition, Joran Campanella, one of the most prominent Flat Earth activists, acknowledged the existence of the phenomenon and began to question his beliefs, ultimately announcing his withdrawal from the movement. Others remained hesitant, torn between accepting reality and clinging to their long-held beliefs.
This experiment sparked widespread controversy within the community, with some accusing others of fabricating the photos and videos. However, it also opened a profound discussion about the strength of scientific evidence versus the acceptance of unsupported hypotheses. What are your thoughts?
