The Ark of the Covenant: Myth or Reality?

The claims surrounding the discovery of the Ark of the Covenant are among the most controversial narratives in the history of religious archaeology.

American researcher Ron White claimed to have found the Ark hidden in a cave beneath the site of Jesus' crucifixion in Jerusalem. He suggested that priests hid it there during the Babylonian conquest, and that its location was not random but carefully chosen to lie directly below the spot where Jesus' blood was later spilled.

According to his account, what surprised him most was what he claimed to have discovered above the lid of the Ark, known as the "Mercy Seat."

He stated that he found traces of blood, and explained that analyses conducted in an Israeli laboratory showed that this blood was still biologically active and possessed an unusual genetic makeup: only 24 chromosomes, 23 of which belonged to the mother, and one Y chromosome, with no trace of a human father, as he described it. White linked these findings to a profound theological interpretation, considering the arrival of Christ's blood at the altar to the mercy seat as the culmination of the Old Testament sacrificial system and the final embodiment of the concept of atonement as presented in the scriptures.

He further argued that this event carries a symbolic and spiritual dimension that transcends the physical discovery, reflecting the fulfillment of ancient religious prophecies.

He also affirmed that the ark remains in its place within the same cave, preserved and concealed, and that access to it is currently unavailable, awaiting a time when, in his view, its full disclosure will be possible.
