Fishermen were shocked when they discovered a giant deep-sea monster during a trip to sea



When they caught a massive wide-mouth shark in the port of Owase, Mie Prefecture, Japan, some fishermen were taken aback.

This shark has a wide mouth, is about 5 meters long, and weighs 1 ton.

A local fishmonger purchased the fish for sale.
Megamouth is the scientific name for the shark above.
There have been approximately 60 individuals of widemouth sharks discovered by humans since 1976.
The waters off Japan and the Philippines are home to the majority of widemouth sharks.
Plankton is the broadmouth shark's primary dietary source.
