A mysterious letter Solving a case of a 34-year-old murder
A letter sent to a local newspaper in the United States helped solve the mystery of a murder committed 34 years ago.
In the details reported by the British Sky News network, Anna Kane was killed in October 1988, when she was 26 years old, in mysterious circumstances, when her body was found next to a road in Pennsylvania.
When the American authorities began the investigation, they collected DNA samples from the clothes of the murdered woman, and investigators noticed the presence of residues of this DNA belonging to a man, but they did not find results that matched anyone.
It was not long before the newspaper received a letter from an unknown person who introduced himself as a “person of interest.” The letter included many details about the crime, and this is what led investigators to believe that the letter’s author was the killer.
But the authorities lacked the means to help them reach him.
After 34 years, advanced technology in the field of DNA monitoring was able to make a breakthrough in the case, as a genetic genealogy test determined the identity of the killer, by examining DNA samples found at the time of the crime.
The results said that the killer was Scott Grimm, who died of natural causes in 2018 at the age of 58, and is believed to have been 26 years old at the time of the crime.
The US police stated that they compared the samples in the letter with other samples from Scott's file, and the results appeared identical.
